Philips, Qualcomm tie up for connected health careNew York, Sep 1 (AZINS) Philips and chip manufacturer Qualcomm Incorporated on Thursday accounced a collaboration to advance connected health across its solutions.

The collaboration -- that involves Qualcomm subsidiary Qualcomm Life -- will enable both companies to offer care providers enhanced, scalable, connected care solutions and services within a secure global ecosystem, the company said in a statement.

While Philips HealthSuite would serve as a global, secure data storage solution for Qualcomm Life's medical-grade 2net Platform, Qualcomm would provide medical-grade connectivity and integration for Philips and third-party medical devices for Philips HealthSuite connected care solutions and services.

"By joining forces, we aim to enable Qualcomm Life to continue to grow its ecosystem and ultimately serve as the underpinning of the Internet of Medical Things," said Rick Valencia, president, Qualcomm Life Inc.

According to Jeroen Tas, CEO, Connected Care and Health Informatics at Philips, by collaborating with Qualcomm Life, the company aims to help care providers to engage better with their patients.

"Patient self-management combined with 24/7 connectivity to a care network is an emerging model that enables scalable chronic disease management for patients and providers," Tas added.
