Samsung's smart TVs may be listening in on your conversationsMumbai, Feb 19(AZINS) Are you afraid of "Big Brother" ? Worried there might be someone in a security agency spying on you? Well it turns out, you might have to worry about "Little Brother" too.

According to reports, Samsung's smart TVs are capable of listening in on your conversations, ad have warned users to watch what they say around the devices. In their privacy policy, the company states, "Samsung may collect and your device may capture voice commands and associated texts so that we can provide you with Voice Recognition features and evaluate and improve the features. Please be aware that if your spoken words include personal or other sensitive information, that information will be among the data captured and transmitted to a third party through your use of Voice Recognition."

Samsung has since responded to the public outcry, explaining how the voice activation feature works. They've also categorically stated that they do not retain or sell the data gathered, and the third party it is transmitted to is Nuance, a company that specializes in voice activation. In addition, Samsung has also said that owners of their smart TVs can identify when the television is "listening", as a microphone icon appears on screen.

You can also disable the feature altogether, if that makes you feel safer. Simply enter your Settings menu and select the Smart Features tab. Navigate to "Voice Recognition" and toggle it off. And while this takes care of your privacy worries, remember you won't be able to use the “Hi TV” wake command, but you can still access voice controls by hitting microphone button on your remote.
