Apple will soon start charging for iTunes RadioMumbai, Jan 16(AZINS) As of January 28, Apple will start charging for their iTunes radio services. Apple sent out an email to all their customers who listen to radio to let them know that they will be discontinuing their free services by the end of January.

Apple mentions in their email that Beats 1 radio will be the only free radio channel option available to those who do not subscribe to Apple Music.

The email from Apple said, “As a listener of ad-supported radio on Apple music, we want you to know that it’s being discontinued starting from January 28. Beats 1 will now be the premier free broadcast so you’ll continue to get all the best music and culture there with world-class DJs like Zane Lowe and specialty and specialty programming from artists like Dr. Dre, Drake, Pharrell Williams, and More.”

The email went on to say, “Additionally, with an Apple Music membership, you can access dozens of radio stations handcrafted by our own team of music experts, commercial-free with unlimited skips. Or you can create your own stations based on your favourite songs and artists. Start your Apple Music membership now and enjoy unlimited access to everything radio offers along with the entire Apple Music catalog.”

Judging from this email it's apparent that Apple plans to dismantle their iAd sales teams. Apple yesterday announced the end of its iAd App Network.
