How to nail military style
Mumbai, Jan 15(AZINS) Be it Belstaff's rugged multi-pocketed parkas or Antonio Marras' khaki-toned separates — the spring summer 2016 line-up exudes a raw and ruffian energy. When someone says 'military chic', visuals of army men going to war comes to mind instantly. Be it Louis Vuitton's 70's style flight suits with top stitching or Versace's sand dune-like separates — everything says — cadets on the move! However, when we decode military style, what does it really mean? Camouflage print jumpsuits, khaki biker jackets and helmets (seen on Versace menswear runway)... We ask menswear specialists...

Bold and free-spirited personality
Designer Sanjay Hingu says, "A military jacket, army jacket, utility jacket, as they are more popularly known, will always be in trend for a youngster or a biker or a motorcyclist. This light jacket is perfect for spring, outdoors and winters, as it gives a bold style statement of one's free spirited personality. The primary reason behind opting for army style clothing is the comfort the military uniforms generally have, in spite of the casual look the discipline associated with the men in uniforms demands respect when worn."

Designer duo Pratham and Gyanesh share, "Cargo pants in beige and khaki were originally created for paratroopers to carry radios and extra ammunition during WWII. They stayed in men's closets after the war due to their rugged good looks. By the second World War, trench coats and bomber jackets had become a staple for men. Today's shorter, sleeker, altogether less fussy leather bomber jackets and trench coats is what we recommend. Heavy leather combat boots or soft brown suede shoes are the perfect neutral foundation for your casual look. These shoes look great beneath denims in any shades."

Pockets for everything
Designer Anuj Madaan says, "Various military élan are added to garments by reinventing varying shades of olive green in military style jackets, epaulet detailing coats, camouflage printed accessories, camo accents, uniform details on pants and more. With a pocket for everything and style to match modern sensibility, fall fashion has taken this utilitarian style to a new level chic. It's not necessary for it to be in army green and instead of prints one can play around with army styled buttons, brooches, cargo pants and bomber jackets."
