The Google Photos app can now remove old photos and videos after backing them upMumbai, Nov 18(AZINS) Smartphone cameras have truly made shutterbugs of all of us. But with new handsets--even entry-level ones--sporting 8 and 13 megapixel camera with HD video recording capabilities, we’re all too familiar with the issue of phone memory quickly getting clogged. The latest Google Photos update is now out to fix that.

The drudgery of scrolling through the phone’s gallery and spring cleaning old photos and videos is something nobody really enjoys, but is often a necessary evil. The latest version of the Google Photos app now automatically monitors your phone’s storage space and notifies when it runs now. Then by simply tapping the new ‘Free up space’ button in the app settings, it will delete all photos and videos older than 30 days that have already been backed up to your Google cloud account.

All of your photos can still be accessed when you’re online, either via the Google Photos app or via a Web browser at photos.google.com.

Keep an eye out for this new version (1.9) on the Google Play Store and is expected to come to iOS devices shortly.
