Did you know Rajkummar Rao was originally going to play Deepika Padukone's lover in 'Chhapaak'? Actor speaks up
May 18 (AZINS) Deepika Padukone starrer Chhapaak has been in news ever since the movie's filming began. The same was expected since Deepika would appear in a movie after her appearance last year in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat. Ever since, the actress got married, made her Met Gala, and now Cannes appearance too.

After all the leaked scenes and stills, one can be sure that Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey have an undeniable chemistry. However Vikrant was not always the choice for Meghna Gulzar's movie Chhapaak. Rajkummar Rao had been approached for the film.

The actor however could not take up the film due to time restraint. Talking abou the same, Rajkummar Rao told Times Now, "I didn't turn it down. Of course not! I loved that script but my dates were so messed up. I'm so looking forward to that film. I kept telling Meghna and Deepika that it's my loss."

Interestingly Vikrant, on bagging the project, had told Pinkvilla, "I was really excited and kind of surprised also. It was really overwhelming when I got the confirmation call from Meghna. Also, to be collaborating with her and Deepika is a part of it; it's something that I am really looking forward to."

Chhapaak is the story of an acid-attack survivor Malti, inspired by real-life acid-attack surviving hero Laxmi Agarwal. The team recently wrapped up their first shooting schedule in Delhi. Meanwhile Chhapaak is slated to release on January 10, 2020.
