Seems team India taking a 'baraat' to Australia: B.S.Bedi
Kolkata, Nov 11 (AZINS) Taking a humorous swipe, former India spin great Bishen Singh Bedi Tuesday likened the jumbo sized Indian squad for the upcoming Australia tour to a marriage procession.

"Laagta hain pura baraat le ke ja raha hai (It seems they are taking an entire marriage procession," quipped Bedi about the 19 member Indian contingent that has four wicket keepers and five pacers.

The former captain however expressed confidence of team India of doing well in the Australian tour and said its disastrous visit in 2011-12 will have not a bearing.

"I don't think the last series will have any bearing. It's a new series and I think they will do well," said Bedi, who graced a Cricket Association of Bengal event to mark the 150th year of inception of the historic Eden Gardens.

Talking about the 2015 World Cup, Bedi also expressed his hope of team India retaining the title.

"India are the defending champion, they are playing well so why not this time as well. But they need to perform doubly well because there are five-six teams who are in the running for the title," he said.

Speaking on the sidelines of an event here, Bedi said: "I think it is pertinent to say the BCCI was born at the Roshanara Club in Delhi. It was a historic moment. Then it flourished at the Eden Gardens. But how the BCCI got hijacked by Tamil Nadu is a mystery for me.

Srinivasan is based in Tamil Nadu capital Chennai.

The former Indian skipper, who attended a function where a postage stamp was released in celebration of the 150th year of inception of the historic Eden Gardens years, recallaed that he made his Test debut Dec 31, 1966 against the West Indies - a matrch infamous for a riot at the gallery.
