'The Crown' casts new faces to play Prince Charles and the Queen MotherJuly 27 (AZINS) After casting Erin Doherty to play Princess Anne in the third season of Netflix series of The Crown, now star Josh O'Connor and Marion Bailey have been roped in to play the roles of Prince Charles and the Queen Mother respectively.

According to the Hollywood reporter, the news came in when the season three of The Crown continues to be in focus.

They are set to replace Julian Baring and Victoria Hamilton who are currently essaying the roles.

"I am thrilled to be joining The Firm for the next instalment of The Crown. Seasons three and four will follow some of the most turbulent events in the Prince of Wales' life and our national story and I'm excited to be bringing to life the man in the midst of it all. I'm very aware it's a formidably talented family to be joining, but reliably informed I have the ears for the part and will fit right in," Hollywood reporter quoted O'Connor as saying.

"Wonderful to be joining The Crown. It's a brilliant show and we have a tough act to follow but what a gift to be playing the fascinating and greatly loved Queen Mother. Thrilled to be on board and working with such a top-notch team," added Bailey.

Doherty said, "To be a part of The Crown feels both ridiculously special and surreal. There is such a rare dynamic within Princess Anne that I am incredibly grateful to be able to explore. She is a woman of great strength and heart. I feel privileged to fight her corner."

Meanwhile, the producers of the series are still on the lookout for an actor to play the role of Princess Diana, who will be featured heavily in the fourth and yet to be declared season five.
