Tom Hardy's 10-year-old son inspired him to take on 'Venom'July 21 (AZINS) Tom Hardy will be seen playing journalist Eddie Brock who turns into anti-hero Venom after an alien symbiote takes over his body when the movie of the same name releases on October 5.

During the San Diego Comic-Con panel for Venom on Friday, Hardy revealed why he took up the challenge of playing the anti-hero.

Hardy said that his 10-year-old boy is a massive Venom fan and the actor wanted to create something for him.

“My son is a massive Venom fan, and he was a strong influence on why I should play Venom specifically. I wanted to do something my son could watch," said Hardy.

But the problem lies in the rating of the movie. Given the scary nature of the previously released trailer, the film could get a hard R-rating and Hardy's son will not be able to watch it.

Hardy also said that he thinks Venom is by far the 'coolest Marvel character' because he liked the way he looks. He also added that Eddie Brock/Venom has a good heart but there is something about his moral compass that makes him an anti-hero.

"His ethical structure is off and he goes around the outside to get things done," said Hardy.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer, the movie also stars Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate, Riz Ahmed, and Woody Harrelson.
