Lessons from 2016 - 2017

  • 2016 - 2017 Youth Committee was involved in a number of activities. They accepted numerous responsibilities over the course of the year, starting from creating business cards, conducting youth outreach and helping attendees at India Association sponsored events.

  • They challenged themselves by initiating new concepts and taking on bigger responsibility. There organized a "Games Corner" where a booth was setup by the youth at India Association's flagship event Discover India. They were also solely responsible for managing crowd and finances for "Bouncy House". Best example of their exceptional leadership is the splendid job they did in organizing their premier event "3v3 Basketball Tournament" - organized by the youth, for the youth, involving the youth.

  • Special recognition needs goes to their ability to carry an idea from inception to execution with minimal adult guidance showing potential to truly develop into future leaders. The youth discussed many projects they would like to undertake in the future.

  • Some of the future events contemplated are related to: STEM, Career Planning, and Performing Art. The IAPHX Board is expecting exciting and innovative projects coming out of youth leadership that will be appreciated by the community at large. Kudos to our future leaders!
