Two German artists 3D scanned the Nefertiti bust and released it online for freeMumbai, Feb 24(AZINS) Hiding Microsoft's Kinect Motion sensor under a scarf--two artists--Nora Al-Badri and Jan Nikolai Nelles captured the iconic Nefertiti bust last year at the Neues Museum in Berlin, Germany. A 3D rendering of the Egyptian queen's sculpture is now available for download and 3D print.

The Nefertiti Bust is a painted sculpture--made out of limestone--of the Great Royal Wife of Egyptian Pharaoh, Akhenaten. The sculpture was discovered by a group of German archaeologist in Thutmose’s workshop in 1992 and taken back to Germany where it was put up at various locations before coming to the Neues Museum. It has been dated back to 1345 BC making it around 3,300 years old and is one of the most copied works of art.

The Bust is now a part of ‘Scan The World’, an initiative started by MyMiniFactory for the purpose of creating a “digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks and landmarks” of iconic artifacts from around the world for the “public to access for free.”

Although the bust has been found, Archaeologist search for Nefertiti's tomb to this day.
