Users of Google’s email service Gmail on Wednesday suffered an outrage which the company said was working to resolve.
Hundreds of Gmail users took to social media to complain about the outage in the service, with #Gmail and #GmailDown becoming top trends on Twitter.
Gmail's social media account also responded to users who complained about the issue.
"Thanks for reporting. We are aware of the issue and are working on a fix. Appreciate your patience," the email service provider said in a response to a Twitter user.
Some users complained that the issue was specific to a particular internet service provider.
The internet was flooded with memes and jokes about the outage with Twitter users using #Gmail and #GmailDown trends to covey their frustration.
Gmail is by far the most used email service and an outage affects millions of users.
Some users tweeted that the service was working on mobile networks, but not broadband networks.
