Don't support CAA, NRC as it divides my house: Pooja Bhatt
Bollywood actor-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt on Monday expressed her dissent against the recently enacted Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC) saying that both of them 'divide her house'.

"I implore our leaders to listen to the voices that have risen in the country. The women in India, at Shaheen Bagh and Lucknow... we'll not stop until we are heard loud and clear. I'd implore people to speak up more. I don't support CAA and NRC as it divides my house," she was quoted by news agency ANI.

Bhatt made the remark during a conference organised by the Parcham Foundation and We the People of Maharashtra to demonstrate against the recently amended citizenship law.

The actor further praised the student protesters and women at Shaheen Bagh. "I think students have given us a message to wake up, get up and speak up because to speak with silence when we should protest is what makes cowards out of men and the time has come to raise our voices," said Bhatt.

She further requested leaders to listen to the protesters. "Wake up, listen to us, hear the women of Shaheen Bagh, hear the students, have a dialogue and don't demonise, stop demonising," she said.

During the conference, members expressed solidarity with the anti-CAA protesters and recited the preamble of the Constitution.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Pooja will be making a comeback as an actor with Mahesh Bhatt's upcoming directorial Sadak 2 alongside Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Alia Bhatt.
