Sharad Malhotra on break-up with Divyanka Tripathi: I was immature and made mistakesAug 19 (AZINS) The television industry has seen quite a few controversial star break-ups which has left many of us shocked, but the one that none of us could digest was the break-up of Banoo Main Teri Dulhann couple Sharad Malhotra and Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya.

The 'once upon a time madly in love' couple, who were in a relationship for seven long years parted ways five years back in the year 2013.

Since the two were together for a long period, their relationship was like an open book.

Even though it has been a long time that the two have moved on, they still get emotional when they talk about the time when they were together.

After recently Divyanka opened up about her break-up with Sharad on Rajeev Khandelwal's show Juzz Baatt, Sharad too talked about his camaraderie with ex-girlfriend.

In an interview with Bombay Times, Sharad revealed why he did not tie the knot with the Yeh Hai Mohabbatein actress.

He said, "There’s not much I can say except that it was a beautiful relationship. But when the word ‘marriage’ popped up, I developed cold feet."

He further added, "It was a long time ago and I was quite immature. One gradually matures with time and experience. Yes, I have made mistakes. As human beings, we all make mistakes. I realise that now but unfortunately, it’s five years down the line. I should have realised it then, but no hard feelings. We have both moved on. She looks very happy and I wish her the very best."

During the interview the actor also shared his qualms of being comittment phobic.

He told the daily, “If I have been with someone for two years or seven years, clearly I am not commitment-phobic. I am with the person, I love the person and it’s all hunky-dory. In all my relationships, I have had some great moments, it’s been fantastic."

He also went on to say that, "We have also fought like cats and dogs, but the kind of family I come from, I know where to draw the line. In a relationship, you have your good times and then you experience the bump and you don’t know how to react. The topic of marriage comes up and you start stepping back and your partner wonders why. I don’t blame them; they are right in feeling that way. Like I have said in the past, the fault is probably mine. I always fall short of taking that final step and that’s something I need to rectify. I have to really work on that.”

Sometime back as well, Sharad had shared his point of view on relationship with Divyanka.

He had said, "After parting ways with Divyanka, people told me that I was wrong, but I think it is my life. Nobody has right to judge me because you have not gone through that situation.”

He also said that he has committed several mistakes in my life, but with that he has learnt that "If you fail to forget and forgive then you cannot move on in your life”.

For the uninitiated, Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya is now happily married to famous television actor and her once co-star, Vivek Dahiya.

Sharad Malhotra, on the other hand was dating ex-Splitsvilla contestant and actress Pooja Bisht.

They however recently broke up as they couldn't gel well.

After Sharad's break-up with Pooja, the actress told a leading daily, as quoted by BollywoodShaadis.com, "Look, what signals are you sending out to the outside world when you end your relationship few days before marriage, by saying that you are marriage-phobic? People consider actors as role models. Isn't he sending out a loud message that you should only date and not marry?"

Pooja also shared, “Sharad started acting weird around six months ago when he suddenly became inattentive and disinterested. However, I assumed that it was because of stress at work; I couldn’t fathom that he was planning to end the relationship.”

Sharad, on the other hand, stated, “There were personal issues from my end. I tried to make the relationship work, but our differences were irrevocable. Pooja is a nice girl and it was great till it lasted. I wish her all the best.”

Well, we wish both Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya and Sharad Malhotra a happy life ahead.
