'Indian Rihanna,' Renee Kujur's parents reveal her struggle, say 'happy for our girl'July 15 (AZINS) Renee Kujur, dubbed India's answer to Rihanna has taken up the social media world with storm. Her uncanny resemblance to the R&B star and global icon has a lot of people speechless. These striking looks have been her strength in the world of modelling. But that was not the case from the beginning.

Renee's parents, Felicita and Fidilius Kujur, live in Pirai village of Jashpur in Chattisgarh. Renee's father used to work in the Ministry of Health? in New Delhi. But because he suffered a heart attack and later on cancer also caught up to him, the family moved back to Pirai six years ago.

In the village, the couple runs a small grocery store by the name of Dilli Dukan and they also tend to a small piece of land for their livelihood.

Renee's mother revealed that her daughter was always hard working and driven. She always wanted to become a model. When her parents could not continue her education because of her father's illness, she worked to complete her schooling.

"I always told her that the world of modelling is for the people with fair skin. But she always believed that her hard work and ambition will take her where she needs to be," said Renee's mother to Zee Media reporter.

Felicita added that her daughter loved dressing up for fancy dress competitions in school and always told her that one day she will become a model. Renee faced ample to rejections before making it big in the career due to her dusky complexion.

Talking to ANI, Renee said, "People used to reject me saying she is dark and ugly. Now I'm successful. But my question is that if Rihanna wouldn't be there, would I be getting this love and importance'?"

She also spoke about the hypocrisy and the obsession with fair skin in the Indian society.

Even though the world called her ugly she was in love with her colour and refused to run after "fairness".

Speaking to ANI, Kujur said , "People no more call me a model but an inspiration," adding  "people click selfies with me and I feel like a celebrity."

Negativity has no place in her life, asserts Kujur.

The 33 years old model says, her (Rihanna) struggle has lessened

Looking at their daughter's success, both the parents are very happy.
