'Game of Thrones' star Natalie Dormer defends 'real and dirty' sex scenes of showJuly 15 (AZINS) Game of Thrones has always been one of the most discussed shows because of its sex and violence content. Reams and digital space has been devoted to converse about the treatment of women on the show and its effects on the audience. This time Natalie Dormer, who played Margaery Tyrell on the show has defended the realistic nature of those scenes in the show.

In an interview to promote her latest project Picnic At Hanging Rock, Dormer told The Sun that thriller genre needs sexuality to be an integral part of it. According to The Tudors actress, it represents the connection between the protagonist and the story.

Talking about Game of Thrones, she said, "Sex and romance is a huge part of human motivation. So long as it’s informing the story then I don’t see the problem.

"But I think Thrones is quite good in that way. The violence is quite naturalistic. It’s not hyper-stylised. It’s not glamorised. And the sex is quite real and dirty as well. It’s about those raw, visceral qualities of human life."

Game of Thrones is once more ruling the Emmys nominations for 2018 with 22 nods. The fantasy show will compete for best drama with last year's Emmy champion, dystopian tale The Handmaid's Tale, supernatural series Stranger Things for Netflix, British royal series The Crown, NBC's family drama This Is Us, Cold War spy series The Americans on FX and Westworld.

The final season of the show will come out in 2019.
