On Ranbir Kapoor's 41st birthday, the makers of his upcoming gangster drama Animal launched the first teaser of the film. Helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the movie also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol in primary roles. The 2.26-minute teaser left Ranbir's fans thrilled and even impressed Vijay Deverakonda.

Vijay Deverakonda has headlined Sandeep's Arjun Reddy (2017), which was remade as Kabir Singh (2019) with Shahid Kapoor. Vijay took his thoughts about Sandeep's second Hindi outing on X (formerly Twitter), and shared the teaser with the caption, "Wishing my Darlings @imvangasandeep @iamRashmika (heart emoji). And my fav RK the very best and Happy Birthday!"

Soon after Vijay's tweet, his co-star and rumoured girlfriend Rashmika responded, "Thankyouuuuuuu @TheDeverakonda (heart emoji). You be the bestestestest!"

Ranbir's wife, Alia Bhatt also shared her reaction to Animal teaser. On her IG handle, Alia Bhatt shared the teaser, and wrote, "NO CAPTION NEEDED CAUSE THIS ONE IS (fire emoji) #Animal in theatres December 1!"

The film, which also stars Anil Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna, is a violent action thriller and sees Ranbir in a new avatar. The teaser was praised by fans for the intrigue it created and some of the action set pieces it teased. The teaser opens with Ranbir and Rashmika, dressed in traditional, discussing if they want children. We then get a flashback of a young Ranbir being slapped mercilessly by his father – Anil Kapoor. His father calls him a criminal and other members of his family think he is a spoilt brat born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

Initially, the movie was slated to clash with Gadar 2 and OMG 2 on August 11. However, the makers decided to postpone the movie As Bollywood Hungama reported, the film’s VFX is the reason for the delay. Before Animal, Ranbir was seen with Shraddha Kapoor in Luv Ranjan's rom-com Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. Vijay Deverakonda, on the work front was last seen with Samantha in Kushi.
