IND vs AUS: Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell shine as Australia win 3rd ODI by 66 runs, India clinch series 2-1
Australia ended their five-match losing streak by defeating India by 66 runs in the third and final ODI in Rajkot on Wednesday. The Australian team showcased their batting prowess, with Mitchell Marsh (96), David Warner (56), Steve Smith (74), and Marnus Labuschagne (72) all scoring half-centuries. This impressive performance led Australia to amass a massive total of 352 for seven, serving as a confidence booster before the upcoming World Cup.
India started their chase positively, with captain Rohit Sharma leading the charge with a blazing knock of 81, including five fours and six sixes. Virat Kohli also contributed with a half-century (56) upon his return.
However, Glenn Maxwell's exceptional bowling performance of 4/40 dismantled the top order, leaving the depleted lower-order struggling to maintain stability in the chase.
With the series concluding with a score of 2-1, India will now face Australia in their ODI World Cup opener at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 8.
