Following the price hike on diesel yesterday after remaining for hiatus for nearly a week, the diesel prices in New Delhi have reached an all-time high. However, the global crude oil prices have been softening lately starting June 7 following a 12-week pause.
Rates differ from state to state depending on the incidence of value-added tax (VAT).
In view of the increase in Value-Added Tax (VAT) on diesel in the national capital, fuel dealers in Delhi have now urged the Delhi government to lower the VAT on diesel here, as it is resulting in a heavy loss of sales at petrol pumps, making them unviable to operate.
Before the nation entered the lockdown, the average price of petrol and diesel in Delhi was Rs 69.60 per litre and Rs 62.30 per litre respectively.
