Deoria cop filmed masturbating in front of a woman complainant goes missing, Rs 25,000 reward announced

An Uttar Pradesh cop who was caught on camera masturbating in front of a woman complainant at the police station has gone missing after a complaint was filed against him.

A video of the station house officer (SHO) of Bhatni Police Station in Deoria district, Bhishm Pal Singh, masturbating in front of a woman complainant at the police station had gone viral on various social media platforms. The incident took place on June 22 when a mother-daughter duo approached him with a complaint related to a land dispute.

The video was recorded by the daughter on her phone.

The woman told the media that her application over a land dispute kept getting delayed and was asked repeatedly to return to the station.

"I made the video after it happened a couple of times. I went to the station with my mother and then my father, the officer was touching himself both the times. If this is the behaviour of the police, how will law and order be maintained?" she was quoted as saying by ANI.

Deoria police chief said an FIR has been registered against the accused and he has been suspended.

Singh has now gone missing and the district police have announced a reward on any information leading to his arrest. A reward of Rs 25,000 has been announced for anyone who finds the cop.

"Inspector Bhishm Pal Singh has been absconding since Tuesday. A reward of Rs 25,000 has been declared for his arrest," Shripati Mishra, Superintendent of Police, Deoria said.

An FIR was registered against the senior cop at the same police station after the video surfaced.

"Singh indulged in vulgar acts while talking about the land dispute. The woman's daughter made a video and showed it to other members of her family," the complaint filed against the SHO said.

He has been booked under the charges of voyeurism, outraging the modesty of a woman, and public servant disobeying law, the district police chief said.
