JNU Violence: Deepika Padukone joins protests by students at Jawaharlal Nehru University in DelhiAfter attacks on Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students, nationwide protests have been going on from the past two days. Several Bollywood celebrities headed to Gateway of India and Bandra where they joined the masses to protest against the violence. Many celebs namely Taapsee Pannu, Richa Chadda, Dia Mirza Mallika Dua, Ali Fazal and directors Anurag Kashyap and Anubhav Sinha were clicked. Moreover, at events held across the countries attended by Bollywood celebs, they were quizzed about it too.
During a recent interaction with NDTV, when Deepika Padukone was asked about it, the actor stated, "It's nice to see people coming out on the streets. I feel proud that people are voicing their opinion whether on the streets or from their homes." DP also said, "If we want to see any change in our life or our society, it is extremely important to keep all points of view on the table."
A while back, Deepika was snapped outside Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) where she joined the students who were protesting against the violence. The actor was seen dressed in black and was standing in solidarity with the students who came out on roads to protest against the violent act which took place on Sunday night.
Meanwhile, Deepika travelled to Delhi to promote her soon-to-be-released film Chhapaak. In the film, the actor plays the role of an acid attack survivor and is helmed by Meghna Gulzar. Chhapaak is hitting the screens on January 10, 2020.
