Cricket Australia set to organize charity match to raise funds for deadly bushfires

The deadly bushfires In Australia has so far destroyed 1,200 homes across New South Wales and Victoria.

The declared state of emergency has allowed local authorities to carry out forced evacuations, road closures "and anything else we need to do as a state to keep our residents and to keep property safe", NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said on Thursday.

High temperatures and strong winds are just making situations worse, leading to "widespread extreme fire danger".

From animals to humans, many have lost their homes and loved ones. Talking about the issue where some sports personalities like Yuvraj Singh and David Warner who thanked the firefighters who are risking their lives and spoke about the need to make a change.

In attempts to help out, Cricket Australia (CA) have also tried to play their part by announcing that a charity match will be played to raise funds for the cause.

I'd love to think we could do something along those lines, we've all got great memories that the role those sort of events have played in disaster and tragedy in the past and would like to think we can make the most of those ODIs in March," CA board CEO Kevin Roberts was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

"We are very open to other initiatives that could include celebrity matches, we've got a very crowded cricket calendar, we have to make sure what we do has maximum impact."

"If there's time, space and availability of the right people nothing is off the table," he added.

Even sports personalities have tried to play their part in attempts to raise awareness by wearing black bands during games and sharing posts dedicated to the cause.
