IND vs SL: Jasprit Bumrah denies reports of Lasith Malinga teaching him how to bowl yorkers

Star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah is highly renowned for his deadly workers, just like his Indian Premier League (IPL) teammate Lasith Malinga.

Both Malinga and Bumrah have been spearheading Mumbai Indians' pace attack for quite some time now, leading the franchise to 4 IPL titles.

While a lot of people have been saying Bumrah have learned the art of his art of toe crushing yorkers from Malinga, however, the 26-year-old has claimed that the Sri Lankan legend did not teach him the yorker techniques.

“Many people believe that he (Malinga) taught me the yorker, but that’s not true. He did not teach me anything on the field," Bumrah was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

"The things I learnt from him are about the mind. How to handle different situations. How to not get angry. How to make a plan for a batsman."

Bumrah then went on to add how he learned to bowl the famous yorker while watching matches on TV as a youngster.

“All my cricket I’ve learned from the TV. Even now, I look at videos and I listen to feedback, and then I like to prepare on my own, the way I want to. I try to do the analysis myself," he added.

"Because on the cricket ground, I will be alone. Nobody’s going to be there to help me so I should be able to help myself."

Bumrah is currently making his comeback into the Indian side for the three-match series against Sri Lanka which starts on Sunday (January 5).
