Priyanka Gandhi holds first rally in Gujarat, urges people to raise and vote on 'important issues'

Mar 12 (AZINS) Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday targeted the Modi government and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in her first rally since she took charge as party general secretary and in-charge for Eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Speaking on PM's home turf of Gujarat, Priyanka said that she was saddened by what was happening in the country. Priyanka accused Modi government of not fulfilling its promises of providing jobs to crores of people in the country asking "where are the jobs?".

Priyanka accused PM and his party of attempting to divide people and playing with their emotions for political gains. She said that that the 'atmosphere of hatred' must be fought against.

She said, "This country is made on the foundations of love, harmony and brotherhood. Today whatever is happening in the country is very sad."

She also urged the people to raise important issues plaguing the country and said that one has to think what one wants this election season.

"What are you going to choose in this election? You are going to choose your future. Useless issues should not be raised. Issues which should be raised must comprise what is most important for you and how you can move forward. How will youth get jobs, how will women feel safe, what will be done for farmers. These are the issues for elections,” she said.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi were present at the rally near Adalaj village of Gandhinagar district. The Congress held a rally in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home state to sound its poll bugle for the crucial Lok Sabha elections.
