In 2019, BJP will win 227 seats in Lok Sabha elections, predicts opinion survey

Aug 14 (AZINS) Day after a survey predicted a bleak picture for the BJP in the state assembly elections, an opinion survey today predicted that Amit Shah-led party is likely to win 227 seats in the 201 Lok Sabha Elections.

According to a survey conducted by research and communication agency War Room strategies and Utopia consulting and carried out by a prominent news channel, the Congress is set to gain in the 2019 polls.

However, the double digit growth will not go any further, with the survey predicting 78 seats for the Grand Old Party.

The survey also predicts that it is the regional players who will gain the most in 2019. Other parties are likely to bag 238 seats.

On Monday, CVoter survey conducted by a prominent news channel had predicted BJP’s terrible loss in in all three upcoming Assembly Elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

According to the survey, the BJP’s loss will be gain for Congress as the Rahul Gandhi-led party is predicted to win 117 out of 230 seats in MP, 54 out of 90 seats in Chhattisgarh and 130 out of 200 seats in Rajasthan.

However, the survey predicts that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is still the first choice for the top post, while Congress chief comes distant second.

Despite the loss in the Assembly Elections, the survey says the Modi factor will help BJP in these states during the Lok Sabha polls.

Meanwhile, Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat today virtually ruled out the ‘one nation, one poll plan.’ He said that simultaneous elections are not possible without a legal framework as any extension or curtailment of the term of assemblies will require a constitutional amendment. The statement  came a day after the BJP made a fresh push to hold the Lok Sabha and assembly polls together.
