Director's note (Synopsis) :This is complete modern take on the great Shakespeare classic Hamlet. I have stuck to the exact scene structure, even certain key lines have not been altered. I have remained totally faithful to not only the plot but the philosophy as well. But almost all the issues have been altered into modern, contemporary scenario, specially in Bengal. Except for Hamlet's black costume color, all the situations have been con temporized. For instance, the ghost of Hamlet/ Hemanta's father is based on the concept of Artificial Intelligence. Hemanta keeps receiving text messages on his phone from an unknown number which are like Shakespearean couplets, puzzles. If you solve the puzz it clearly tells Hemanta to take revenge of his dad's murder. Instead of the Elsinior castle, the kingdom of Denmark is the Bengali film industry which is totally corrupt. York is a computer hacker who is the gay partner of Horatio. The graveyard becomes the Hospital ICU... To me as a director the basic crises of Hamlet/ Hemanta is the crises of any sensitive, intellectual creative artist. Am I do fight the system directly or am I to just make a good film in this shady, rotten, corrupt industry? That is my "To be or not to be".
