How to have fun with the pantsuit
Mumbai, Nov 26(AZINS) Pantsuits make their presence felt like never before — be it Fall 2015 or SS 2016! While Prada presented them in a double breasted format worn with cropped trousers, Rag and Bone’s belted version had the blazer cropped at the midriff while Chloe and Marc Jacobs reinterpreted them in loungy, laidback format. Back home Frou Frou by Archana Rao sent them out in sugary pearl laced format, Monisha Jaising paired a sequinned blazer with flared trousers.

A pantsuit is a classic and never really goes out of style but it always clamours for a modern upgrade. How to make it less severe, more fun is a challenge? We speak to the stylists...
Actresses like pantsuits

Stylist Sanjana Batra says, “Four years ago actresses would be like — ‘give me a nice dress’ but now they are like ‘why not a cool pantsuit’. However, the fit has to be impeccable and precise. The Archana Rao blazer which comes with a belt motif like a bow comes to mind. It’s an interesting way to cinch the waist in a sweet, feminine manner. In other words, power dressing with femininity. Alternatively, one may opt for a fun top or a camisole inside to inject that youthfulness to the pantsuit. Embellished motifs on jackets can also be a good option which add an element of drama and make the ensemble look dressy. This season there’s motifs galore — bug motif, lip motifs which make the look more wearable for 20 somethings. Culottes paired with a blazer is a fun look. Add a fun brooch or a cluster of brooches from Mrinalini Chandra.”

Take cue from Kangana
Stylist Ami Patel says, “Wear the pantsuit with a pair of sneakers or keds. It makes the ensemble a lot more younger and fun. Style it with a top knot and layer the jacket with multiple chains. Try a tailored look with shorts instead of trousers at the bottom a la Alia Bhatt or wear a printed pantsuit with a fun quirky t-shirt inside instead of a shirt. Like what Kangana did.”

Understand your body type
Stylist Aastha Sharma says, “Understanding your body type is very important and what cut works for you. Team a jacket with a dress to make it less formal, for evening pair it with a shiny black dress or a maxi. Pair a pair of formal pants with a t-shirt and a jacket. Mix and match and don’t be all matchy all the time. Have fun. Play with bright neon colours, for instance, by throwing a tank inside or add a vibrant scarf or accent the look with a belt or brooches.”
