Kalabhavan Mani's death: Country liquor was served at the actor's houseMar 19(AZINS) South Indian actor Kalabhavan Mani has been in the news for his unnatural death. On Friday, Regional Chemical Examiner's Laboratory at Kakkanad in Kochi confirmed that a highly dangerous insecticide was found in the actor's viscera samples. Today, the police have confirmed that 'arrack' or country liquor was served at his farmhouse on March 4 during a get-together with friends.

Kalabhavan Mani was admitted to hospital after the party, when he started to vomit blood. He died on 6 March in a private hospital in Kochi.

Malayalam Manorama says police have stated that 'arrack' or the banned country-made liquor was brought from Varantharappally in Thrissur district. Joy (45), who is in police custody, has reportedly admitted to having supplied the banned liquor to Mani’s outhouse in Chalakkudy many times in the past as well.

Friends and local residents have stated that 'arrack' used to be supplied to Mani's house for guests. But they also stated that Mani never used to consume it. As of now, it is not clear whether Mani had consumed the 'arrack' before his death, adds the report.

Mani's friends who were present with him at the party on March 4 had reportedly cleaned out the farmhouse. Neighbours reported that they saw them take out two gunny bags. The police are investigating what was taken out and where. As of now, there are six people in police custody and they are all likely to be charged under the Abkari Act.
