COVID-19: Another Delhi hospital running out of oxygen supplyWith each passing day as the number of COVID-19 positive patients increasing sharply, hospitals are facing an acute shortage of oxygen supply. Another Delhi hospital has reported that it is running out of oxygen supply.

Metro Hospital situated in Delhi's Preet Vihar is only left with a few hours of oxygen, sources told India.com. It is reported that Metro Hospital only has around 1.5 to 2 hours of oxygen supply left.

The media house reported that the vendor who supplies oxygen to the Metro Hospital has switched off its phone and there is an extreme shortage of oxygen at the hospital.

Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia has urged the Centre to ensure a normal supply of oxygen even if that meant taking the help of paramilitary forces.

"Some hospitals in Delhi have run out of oxygen completely. They don’t have any option available. I have been receiving calls, messages, e-mails. We have been making internal, makeshift arrangements, but this cannot continue for long," he said.

"The Centre should take the help of paramilitary forces, if needed, and ensure the supply of oxygen to Delhi," he said, adding the situation may become 'very dangerous' otherwise.

This comes at a time when the Delhi High Court directed the Central government to supply medical oxygen to six hospitals in the national capital at the earliest using any means necessary.

A bench of the High Court issued the order while hearing a plea by Max Healthcare over the shortage of medical oxygen at its hospitals in Delhi-NCR.

Earlier on Wednesday, Max Healthcare had issued a press statement saying that it had only a few hours of medical oxygen supply left. Over 1,400 COVID-19 patients are being treated at seven Max Healthcare hospitals, the statement went on to add.
