Here's why Saif Ali Khan thinks Bollywood does not need 'verification, appreciation, validation, from outside culture'
Saif Ali Khan is fresh off the success of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior and is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Jawaani Jaaneman along with Alaya Furniturewalla and Tabu. In a recent interview, Saif opened up about the film industry and how it does not need international audiences to thrive and that might be just the thing we need.

"The thing about our culture... is that we don’t need verification, validation, appreciation from an outside culture. There are so many of us that if we just keep each other happy then we don’t financially need anything," Saif said. However, along with that Saif also clarified that such an insular approach may not harm Bollywood’s bottom line but could be 'dangerous' for the industry’s development.

"Cinema is about people meeting, comparing, collaborating because the human condition is quite similar. But if we isolate ourselves... I think we will lose out on something because we will keep catering just to ourselves." On the work front, Saif plays a father to Alaya's character in Jawaani Jaaneman and recently opened up about what's it like bringing up his tiny tot Taimur Ali Khan.

Speaking about whether he is a strict parent or not, Saif said, "I think it is good to be a little strict, I have given up. This time around, like my third child and my wife’s first (cracks a joke on himself and says ‘that sounds weird), so she kind of spoils him slightly and I know this is not gonna end properly. I know where this is going. And now he is bully everyone at home. I don’t want to go to school, so all that’s happening."
