Taylor Swift in legal soup over allegedly stealing gaming app titleJuly 22 (AZINS) Pop star Taylor Swift has been sued for allegedly stealing the name of a Long Island business entity, the owner of which claims the singer named her gaming application after it.

According to New York Daily News, Patrick Benot, the owner of a Wantagh-based computer consulting business, said he trademarked the "SwiftLife" name in 2007 - nine years before Swift and Glu Games signed a deal to launch "The Swift Life" app.

Benot, 32, claims the singer did not take his permission, who is SwiftLife's owner and sole employee, before taking over the name, which has hurt his business.

He has sued Swift, Glu Games and others in Long Island Federal Court.

"In filing this action, SwiftLife, whose business pales in comparison to that of Ms Swift and Glu, is standing up for itself and much like Ms Swift in her fights against the bullies she has encountered in her own life seeks to enforce its rights in and to the SwiftLife trademark against Ms Swift and Glu, both of whom are financial giants," court papers read.

A representative for Swift could not be reached for comment.
