Rita Bhaduri passes away: All you need to know about the late veteran actressJuly 17 (AZINS) Veteran actress Rita Bhaduri passed away on Tuesday morning. The 62-year old actress was reportedly suffering from a kidney ailment. She used to undergo dialysis every alternate day and was also hospitalised for the last 10 odd days.

Daughter of actress Chandrima Bhaduri (Bandini; 1963, Sawan Badho; 1970, Chor Machaye Shor; 1974, Chalte Chalte; 1976, among many others), Rita, a 1973 batch alumni of FTII (Film and Television Institute of India, Pune) made her debut in the Malayalam film, Kanyakumari (1974), which also marked legendary actor Kamal Haasan’s first adult role in a Malayalam movie. She made her Bollywood debut in Julie (1975) as Laxmi’s friend and went on to act in about 70 movies since then and 30 television shows.

Incidentally, she was also initially mistaken as Jaya Bhaduri’s (Jaya Bachchan) sister as the latter’s sibling, too, is named Rita.

The Lucknow-born Rita also had a good connection with the Gujarati film industry and had been one of the most successful actresses from there too. Her funeral rites were performed in the afternoon at the Parshiwada Cremation Ground, Andheri. Shishir Sharma (Raazi), who broke the news of Rita’s demise on Facebook was present, and so was Satish Shah among several others.
